I can't find one anywhere and my system says that the usb device now isn't recognized. I just all the sudden stopped working and I think this might be the only way to fix it. Thanks.

Open Device Manager and see if your usb port(s) are working ok.

Then try deleting the mouse in Device Manager, then reboot, and see if Windows will reload the mouse driver automatically.

thanks for your response. I pull up the device manager and it tells me that there are 5 USB Universal Host Controlers and another 5 USB root hubs. I open up each one and they all say that they are working properly. Each of the host does have a number assigned to it.

I then open up the the mice and other pointing devices and it looks to me like that the only one listed is the one that is installed on the laptop.

Is there a different place I need to look to delete the mouse?

Thanks again,

Alex
