Hi there,

Im not new to installing drivers, and making thinks work with hardware, but now i need an experts advice.

I use a program called EVEREST to know what kind of hardware i use, and finding drivers. Recently i have updated my laptop's ram.

As i said i used program to tell me how much ram it lets me to update, and it told me, that my motherboard supports 4gb's of ram. I bought two chips, each 2gb's of ram. Inserted, and on the computer it showed only 3gb's of ram.

Now, i know 3gb's of ram is quite a lot, but why to have 3gb's, if i can have 4?

Oh and yeah, my motherboard supported only 667, but i bought 800 and as i inserted, rams automatically changed to 667, so i think that is just fine.

Ok, so a little bit, of what i use at the moment:

North Bridge: Mobile Intel Calistoga-GM i945GM
South Bridge: Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M
I use both
Module Name A-Data DOVE1B163B2
Module Size 2 GB (2 ranks, 8 banks)
Memory Type DDR2 SDRAM
Memory Speed DDR2-800 (400 MHz)
..
My BIOS is AMIBIOS v203.

I dont really know if anything can be done here, as i searched all around google, and didint find anything usefull, so this site is probably my only and last option:)

- Hoping for a soon reply, and thanks in advance for your effort, and time consume:)
Cheers

The 3 GB RAM limitation does not have to do with a hardware problem or missconfig...is just a limitation from the OS.
You are probably using a 32 BITS OS, ie.: Windows XP Pro 32 bits.
To use the 4 GB installed you must install a 64 bits OS.
Well, with that you can have much more RAM installed and detected by the OS but in that point the hardware must detect it. ("normal" PCs allow as much as 4 GB)

Good luck.
