I have recently installed XP on my Sony VAIO laptop from ME. When I did this XP lost my modem. The modem is not being appearing in the divice manager, so I can't install a driver for a modem that XP is not finding.

The computer has 2 partitions
C: Running ME (Original)
D: Running XP (Updated)

C: still works and the modem is found and all that jive but D: is not finding the modem. I don't have a COM 3 Port on D: I have COM 1 but no COM 3 which is the port my modem is on in C:

Any advice?

Set Windows XP to show hidden devices and delete the old driver for the modem.
Windows should then detect the modem after a warm boot.
