Hi everyone, can anyone help. Tried to Re-install Windows for the above model an it would just not pick up cd i.e ......"press any key to boot from cd".I have checked the Bios as advised by Acer to make sure first bootdevice is on CD which it is.

I have been told to reinstall windws on this type of model there are certain keys that need to be pressed before hand, or something like that.!!! i'm confused.I also pressed any key to boot but a black screen came

anyone tell me otherwise. Thank you

Try going to the Empowerment and restore to cd/dvd or appication. If all else falls restore to factory settings.

Anytime you set the BIOS to where the optical drive is the first boot device, you will always see the notice on the screen that says "press any key to boot from cd". That's the way the bios creator made it to work. If you reset the bios to where the hd is the first boot device, you won't see the on-screen message during bootup.

If a bootable disk (like the Windows XP install disk) fails to boot the machine when in this mode, you have a problem that needs to be corrected first. ie: bad drive, connected or configured wrong, etc.
