I get a message everytime I boot up saying that it can't find BFRECV.exe file. As I understand it, this is called for with windows ME - I now run XP pro. (use to be ME) How do I remove all reference of this file from my registry so that it doesn't ask for it any more?

Probably is run from the load= line in system.ini but could also be run from the registry.

Use Notepad to open system.ini
Check to see if the file exists there. If so delete it leaving only "load=". Exit and save.

If not in system.ini then open the registry editor. Start, Run, regedt32, ok

Click Edit, Find
type BFRECV.exe into the box, click Find Next.
when file is found, the scan process will lock onto it. Press the delete button (on keyboard), answer yes to "do you want to delete this..."
Press F3 to resume scan, repeat until no more instances of this file are found.
When finished, click the X in top right corner to exit RegEdit.
Reboot machine... now you should not get the message at bootup.
