Hi All,

I need the sound driver for my Sony Vaio VGN-TZ27GN/B. (Intel 82801 GBM ICH7-M)

After installing the chipset driver the device is still not showing as configured in device manager.

Should the chipset driver have installed this properly? If not what driver will i need?

You will need the sound driver to enable sound on your laptop. I doubt your machine has an Intel sound chipset. Most likely it has Realtek, Cmedia, ADI SoundMax, or Sigmatel. You cannot use generic drivers on a laptop. You must use the specific driver designed for this laptop. Attempting to use a generic driver will result in a failed installation. Where did you get the driver and what is it's file name?

The driver i got is simply called Audio_Driver(Realtek) no version number or anything.

I obtained the driver from the sony website as part of the XP downgrade driver package.

And did Sony recommend this driver or did you pick it on your own? If it was a driver recommended by them, then yes it should have installed the sound driver.

You can find some downgrade drivers from this link: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/

Select your model (or a similar model) from the list on the page.
