Optical drives do not require a driver when used in any Window os start with Windows 95. The Vista OS provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk.

Please state what the problem is and include some details. ie: non-detection (the drive does not appear in My Computer) or other?

Note: Matsushita UJ-xxx notebook models are notorious for going bad. I've seen new one's fail in 2 hrs.

I have just purchased a Acer computer with a Matsushita UJ 850S DVD drive. I cannot play my discs which are CD+G karaoke discs using the Karafun prog. Karafun say the CD reader cannot see the words.

Will the drive read normal data and music disks? If yes, then you either have a problem with the CD+G disks or something wrong with the program that reads them.
