Your post is a bit confusing.

First you list a Presario 2100 (which cannot be found on the HP website)

2nd your list "Modem DM729a and others" (which I have no idea what means)

But when I use "DM729a" as the seach model on HP's website, it takes me to a page where a "Presario 2188CL Notebook PC" is shown.

It appears that Compaq only provides support for this machine in Windows XP and Windows 2000)

They do not support it this machine in Vista.
