Please state the intended purpose you have for connecting this cable and who made it. Normally if a cable requires a driver, the manufacturer includes such with the device. And what does this device do? Is it to convert a USB port to a serial port or vice-versa? My Sabrent USB to serial adapter came with a driver disk.

And since you are asking for a driver, your thread will be moved to the driver request forum. The Windows XP forum (where you posted) is for asking questions dealing with the Windows XP os... it is not for asking for drivers.

dear jerry k..the device is a usb data cable for connecting my laptop to my cellphone nokia6101.....the cable name is ca42......the device came with a driver cd,but the os driver for usb-serial controller is not in place......the os is windows xp.........in device manager in windows xp,there is a yellow question mark against this device name implying that the os driver is not in place....ca42 is different from other usb cables like dku2,dku5,etc......when installing it ,we have to specify the serial port eg com1,etc.....after u install the driver cd,the device still shows as driver missing....hope this clarifies

I apologize but I don't know what this term means: "the os driver for usb-serial controller is not in place."

Does this mean the installation disk doesn't install the driver properly? Or does it mean the disk doesn't support Windows XP? Or does it mean something else?

I am unable to find anything relating to "ca42". Who made the cable device? The cable manufacturer should have drivers if required but I don't know who the manufacturer is.

dear jerry k...ca42 usb data cable <CONNECTIVITY ADAPTER CABLE CA42> is originallly made by nokia, but i have the grey market version.....i have run the install cd...but when i plug in the cable for internet access,it gives me an error msg" h/w may not function, since it is not installed properly".....in the control panel of winxp,a yellow question mark shows against the device "USB SERIAL CONTROLLER"...... hope this clarifies
