I have two printers connected to my system. The newer one is connected into a USB port. Since day one, when this printer is connected, Windows hangs at shutdown. I see the “Windows is shutting down…” message, and then the cursor freezes on the screen. If I disconnect the USB cable to the printer, Windows shuts down normally. It will also shut down in Safe Mode. I have SP2 and all updates installed. Have disabled Power Management in the Root Hubs. Have searched MSKB but have not pinpointed a cure. Have not changed any BIOS/CMOS settings. I have recently updated printer, modem, and VIA 4 in 1 drivers, but it hasn’t helped. I thought this might be something simple.... guess not. Any other ideas? (besides pulling the plug before each shutdown)
