Not sure what you mean by "There's a file in download section which is not getting downloaded." Does that mean simply that no one is downloading it or that no one is capable of downloading it? Bad link? other?

MSI has constantly changed their motherboard numbering system. All OLD models bear MS-xxxx number while newer motherboard have a totally different number system.

If your motherboard has a bios id string, that might help to locate drivers.

06/16/1998-i430TX-2A59IM4DC-00 is one such bios id string that a Microstar MS-5170 (while it could have other bios id strings and dates. These board are considered obsolete by modern standards.

I suggest you download the following software. It might be able to located the needed driver.

To find make and model of pc hardware, EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information program that will id most hardware onboard a mb. as well as the actual motherboard.

Alternate Everest download link: (offers 2 sites to dl program from)
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/EVEREST-Home-Edition-Download-16369.html

Run the program and then:

Click on Computer
Click on Summary
Right hand window (hardware) if the text is blue this is a link to the web site for that particular hardware.

If you have additional questions or need further help, please post a SUMMARY report from Everest.

Thank you Jerry

What I mean by file not getting downloaded is it's bad link or something like that. Actually there's a file named w517014.exe in our download section, but on clicking it, a message is flashed "contacting download site" but nothing happens. The alternate click here link if the download has not started also doesn't work. So that's that.

The Bios id is: 10/29/97 i430tx-2A59IM4CC-00. Will it help?

I know that these boards are obsolete. But our college is not in a position to throw them away.

Your help will be appreciated.
