There is no supported, updated BIOS available for that motherboard. Open this page:

http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp

Identify your WD harddrive (WD Protege 5400 RPM, WD Passport, etc.), then click on the DOS FLOPPY version of the Data Lifeguard Tools you need. Follow the instructions on the page to create the bootable DOS floppy disk, then use the floppy disk to boot your computer, and install your WD 80GB HDD...

Is your problem the system won't recognize the full capacity of the hard drive or won't recognize that you have a hard drive. Please clarify your problem?

If a bios doesn't recognize the full capacity of a hard drive then that is a bios problem. It can be cured by using drive overlay software if a bios upgrade is not available. All the hard drive makers have recognized this problem for years and most offer the drive overlay software to overcome the problem. Personally, I don't like using drive overlay software because it causes other problems to surface.

If you are having a problem of non-detection of the drive, that is not a bios problem.
