Hi

I've bought a remanufactured Compaq Presario R3145EA laptop. Compaq don't provide XP recovery CD's for remanufactured laptops anymore apparently. You have to pay £30 for Recovery/Driver CDs from a supplier, the cost covers the XP Home Edition license. I already have a registered copy of XP Pro, therefore I'd rather not pay the £30 for the CDs.

I've been unable to find the Chipset version of the laptop, does anyone know what it is so that I can download the drivers?

I would also like to get hold of the 4in1 card reader drivers for this laptop as I have a Base System Device as missing drivers in Device Manager. Someone has already pointed me in the direction of the 02 Micro drivers for this card reader, but they didn't work. I think the card reader is made by Texas Instruments if that helps?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

i think i previous answered a Request from you in the driver forums?

this request is worded a bit diffrent. HAVE you installed the motherboard chipset drivers?... if not please visit the compaq site and LOOK AT THE PRODUCT SPECS link for your laptop model. once this is known.......

intel,AMD, and SIS are the major laptop chipset makers and the respective chipset drivers for each maker can be found on their web sites.

Hi Damien, yes I saw your reply to my message on the Request Driver page, thanks. However this didn't work and I realised that I probably needed the chipset driver to get this laptop properly setup. I have emailed Compaq Support asking the chipset model as I can't find this information anywhere on the website. Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers
Andy
