For what brand and model of pc? Lots of pc makers used this sound chipset including Dell. If used in a notebook, it must be a specific driver from the laptop maker since laptops cannot use generic drivers.

I need the exact same driver, it's for a sony vaio laptop, model VGN-FZ145E. I found a project online where they coded the driver to work in osx/linux, but nothing for xp.

Sony Vaio's USA site doesn't support xp drivers for machines that were shipped w/vista, Sony UK has some support, but not for the machine I have. I also can't even browse the other xp drivers that they have since it wants a valid serial/product id off the laptop and the UK site does not recognize my serial.

until the manufacturer DOES start supporting their Vista machines in Windows XP, the situation will remain the same. ie: folks who cannot get their machines to work because of no driver support from the laptop maker.

All I can suggest is to visit the many world-wide Sony websites, look for a similar model with the same Sigmatel chipset and try that driver. Or wait until the manufacturer releases the driver.
