I downloaded the correct driver (q1kyb03us13.exe). I followed the instructions in the text file exactly. However my WinXP machine tells me that there is an older version which I must uninstall first. I did that too, and re-booted. But, when my system comes up, it automatically picks it up. How can I install the new driver? Please help.....

it automatically picks it up??? "it" being what?
and picks what up? and again what is "it"?
Are you saying that when reboot, the machine re-installs the old driver or it detects the keyboard and prompts you for a driver.
Please be more descriptive with your explanation of the problem.

Thanks for responding Jerry. Here is a full explanation:
I have a Lenovo T60 laptop. Ihave an external USB keyboard attached to it. Model number of the keyboard is "SK-8815". This is a "USB Enhanced" keyboard with extra buttons, which I would like to use. When I powered up the laptop, WindowsXP automatically detected it, and automatically installed the "correct" driver. However, the extra shortcut buttons do not work.
When I found the correct driver for it, and followed the instructions for WinXP (going through the Device Manager, and updating the driver), the Windows Installer process tells me that there is an older/existing version of this software. It (the Windows Installer) asks me to remove it and reboot, then re-install it.
There is no software installed in the "Add/Remove Programs". Instead, I un-install the device from the Device Manager, and re-boot the laptop.
If I re-boot without hooking up the keyboard (so that Windows does not auto-detect the keyboard), and re-try the driver install, the install process gives me the same message.
If I re-boot with the keyboard connected, then WinXP auto-installs what it thinks is the best driver.
I read other people's comments. They do not seem to have any issues.
I hope I was able to provide enough details this time. Thanks very much.

Ok, when there is no un-installer, you must remove manually. Go into the INF and \INF\Other folder under Windows and look for any xxxx.inf file that relates to the keyboard and delete it. Also, check (using Windows Explorer) under Program Files and delete any folder relating to the keyboard. Now... if you have a registry clean program, run it (that will clean any remnants of the keyboard program from the registry. Now try re-installing the keyboard software.
Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same problem and have tried all of the suggestions listed. Still will not let me load.
