IO know its internal drive but dont know if it is usb gussing on that?

Most modern internal optical drives have IDE interface. It would have to be an external drive to be usb interface.

You need dvd decoding software to play dvd movie disks. eg: WinDVD or PowerDVD. Free versions are only available in trial versions. Trials versions will run but are limited in play time per title and total time before expiring.... something like 15-30 days.
