i believe dvd103 is using a scsi driver rather than the correct ide driver. i am trying to find a ide driver to reinstall correct driver using a floppy disc.

Optical drives do not require any driver other than the one included with the OS. Please explain what the term "is using a scsi driver" means. IDE drives use IDE controllers and the IDE controllers use native Windows drivers. Do you have any scsi hardware in the machine?
