Balotolab 09-20-2007, 02:35 PM To whom might it concern:
I just bought an HP Pavillion last August 2007 from Circuit city Lansing, MI. The DVD/CD drive went on smooth for some days but unfortunately these past few days it seems that the it is not install and Windows Vista does not recognize it.
May I request a driver for this model Optiarc DVD RW AD 7530A ATA device. If possible to send the driver via email please do so. My email address is no.email.addys@allowed.com.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Yours truly,
Jaz

Jerry K 09-20-2007, 05:13 PM Optical drives do not require any driver other than the one provided natively by the Windows XP os. If your drive is not listed in My Computer and Device Manager then you need to perform the "delete upper and lower filters fix". There is a STICKY at the top of the forum that has a file from Microsoft to do this fix for you. It also contains instructions. Give it a try.
Balotolab 09-21-2007, 09:33 AM It is listed in the Device Manager no doubt about that but it says in the Device Manager that there is some kind of error that it is in. I think that is error code 19 if I am not mistaken. I have tried reinstalling the said hardware, it detects the hardware however, the problem is still the same. I have been looking all over the internet of the drivers for Optiarc DVD RW 7530 ATA device driver but unfortunately I am unsucessful in the said attempts.
Could somebody please help me? I starting to become frustrated with this. Should I go back to America to get circuit city with its warranty? Because I am here in Manila, Philippines and I could not find a way to go back to America.
That would be all. Thanks and have a nice day.
Yours truly,
JaZ
gringodawg 09-26-2007, 04:39 AM Hello,
I am having the same problem with my Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA Device using a Compaq Presario C500 laptop with Vista. However, the computer pulls a Code 39, not a 19. Jerry K, you refer to the XP os - does this apply to Vista as well? If so, how exactly do I go to the STICKY at the top of the forum to get the file from Microsoft to do the fix for me? I went to the MS website, and did not have success.
Thank you,
shane

Jerry K 09-26-2007, 06:14 AM Click the hyper-link at the top of this thread: CD / DVD Request Board
STICKY is posted at the top of the forum and contains the word STICKY. Just click on it.
I've not tried this fix on Vista machines but have had several members saying that it did work.
Optiarc drives are notorious for being bad. You might need to replace it with a more dependable brand.
Chris Bradford 10-04-2007, 04:51 PM HERE IS THE FIX, I have new Compaq Presario laptop using Vista with this Optiarc DVD drive saying "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I just tried this Jerry's recommendation, I couldn't get the Patchfix to download and work BUT... I did, with the help of COMPAQ tech support (my computer is still under waranty), figure out how to do Jerry's Idea manually and IT WORKED!
TO DO THIS: type "REGEDIT" in start search box to open the Registry Editor. In the directory tree click-expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM,CurrentControlSet,Control,Class,{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, 0000. then in the right pane look for files with Upper or Lower Filters and then right click to delete them.

But how do i know which files are the Upper or Lower Filters?
Please tell me, because I have the same problem.
Jerry K 10-17-2007, 08:15 PM This info is posted numerous times in multiple threads in this forum. However, for those members that can't seem to find them, I will post it once more:
Here is the url to the sticky that explains this procedure and also has an included file that does it for you:
http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=30011
And here is a reprint of my article explained in many threads:
Simple solution:
Situation
There is a yellow exclamation mark for CD/DVD drives in Device Manager. The device status in the properties of the driver might indicate an error code, for example 32, 37, or 39. Or the drive simply does not appear in My Computer or Device Manager.
Solution
To solve the issue, you have to edit the Windows Registry:
Click Start, then Run, type REGEDT32 and click OK.
Locate and then remove the following registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCl ***{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}LowerFilters
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCl ***{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}UpperFilters
http://common.packardbell.com/itemnr/topic_02125/topic_02125.gif
Close Registry Editor.
Reboot the system for the changes to take effect.
Note: Some programs are unable to detect the CD/DVD drive after these steps. To solve this, simply re-install the program in question, eg: usually your recording software. Also, in few instances the order in which the programs are (re-)installed can make a difference.
And here's another method that will do this automatically for you if you're afraid to edit the registry manually.

(automatic fix, post #7, download file: CdGone.zip)
There is also a STICKY in the CD-DVD driver request forum that has instructions on how to do this fix along with a file from Microsoft that will perform the fix. Please read the STICKY for further instructions. This thread: http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=30011
Remco 10-17-2007, 09:23 PM Thank you very much,
I was able to delete the Upper and Lower Files.
Now I can use my cd's again :D
AnnonOMous 10-20-2007, 08:40 PM I tried to do everything you said manually but... well here's the thing, the upper and lower dilter that you say I should delete... they aren't in the specified area of regedt...
Any other way to fix the problem
BTW, I'm using Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA Device and get the message "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I'm using Vista. Mine is also built in instead of USB.
All I'm looking for is a foolproof method to get my DVD drive working so I can play games again. Either that or a download that does it all for me.
