Optical drives do not require any driver other than the one Microsoft included with Windows XP. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk. No support for playing dvd movie disks. For that task, compatible 3rd party dvd decoding software (like WinDVD or PowerDVD) is required.
