i need a sound device driver for this computer.
somehow the driver does not exist after loading windows xp home. pretty sure the sound device is built in as the graphics are.
given up hope at this point as far as sound on my computer. it sucks.

Unfortunately, HP doesn't offer free sound drivers for this machine.

According to their Specs Page (h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00398364&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&os=228&product=1098461&lang=en) for this machine, it should contain a Realtek ALC 880 audio chipset. You can try the Realtek website (www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/) to see if drivers are available or you can order a recovery cd from HP from the first link in this post.
