Whenever I reinstall Windows XP I get a new OS showing on the 1st screen where you scroll and select. How can I get rid of all and keep one. In future how can I prevent this.

Try Fdisk'ing with a DOS disk prior to installing XP. Delete all the partitions, create a new partition and format it.

You can try msconfig in the run box and edit the boot.ini
