Optical drives never require a driver other than the one Microsoft includes with the Windows XP OS. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. No support for burning cd-rw and dvd disks and no support for playing dvd movie disks. For those tasks, compatible 3rd party recording and dvd decoding software is required.

Please state what your exact problem is and include some details. Perhaps non-detection (most common problem in Windows XP other than faulty drives or hardware mis-configuration)
