No driver is required. Please why don't you folks do some reading before posting here? It doesn't do any harm and it doesn't take that much time.

I think for win 2k is needed but not sure, I have same type and for win xp isnt needed, mine just look like broken or somethink I have tested it on msdos and its working fine, but not on win xp, just shows the files but cant run any file or copy I still dont know what to do any sugestions..?

Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?

Internal or external?

Type of interface?

How is it configured in bios setup?

My LG disappeared from the hardware list after applying several XP SP2 service packs. My PC is now "current" but it appears to have tanked the DVD writer. It might be similar (a trend here?) to the previous post.
