I have 2x D-Link DWL-120 11Mbps Wireless USB Adapters and the DI-711 Wireless Gateway connected. On the 2nd PC running XP home I can see both computers in the network, but cant access the other machine. On the PC running Vista it does show the wireless network but cannot see the XP computer.

I think it has to do with the driver, even though Vista did recognize the adapter as an "instant wireless USB network adapter ver2.5". Sometimes the light on the adapter are both constant (connected) and sometimes one flashes (not connected).

So I think that because it is an on-and-off and it is on the Vista that the adapter isnt fully functional, it has something to do with the driver. Or would it not recognise the device if it wasnt vista-comptatible?

If you look at this file (hnw-200_driver.zip) a clever guy was able to adapt the driver for XP to recognise it - but i'm using Vista. Also "Dlink.zip" from Carey Holzman must have be adapted.

Could someone please tell me if it is possible for the DWL-120 to be adapted to work on Vista?

D-link made 3 different versions of this device, ie: C, D, & E revisions. Check the D-link website for help with determining which revision you have and also to see if drivers are available.

Yes I tried that but the drivers are only for Win 98, Win 98SE, Win ME, Win NT 4.0, Win 2000 Workstation, Win 2000 Server, Win XP Home, Win XP Pro, Win 2003 Server - but not for Vista.

Is it possible to write the code for it to work in Vista???

Sure... all you need is a programmer but are you aware what a programmer charges per hour? It would be cheaper to buy a new WLAN card designed for the newer OS.

Thats why I was hoping somebody might be kind enough to do it as a hobby in this forum... there have been several adaptions in previous years to this driver (e.g. 2003) so somebody might just like to do a vista update and upload it to this website?
