Hello,
About the floppy drive in Windows XP - There is No driver...
XP detects it automatically (reffering to your BIOS settings)...
XP does a pretty good job in autodetecting all basic hardware..
along with CDrom Dvdroms and so forth.. They also have No drivers...
Only back in the day Of DOS and Windows 3.1 were drivers needed,
not today..
Double Check your system BIOS on Boot-up...
It should prompt for 'setup' - usually Del key or F1 key...
On the first tab..General, - The Floppy drive should be listed..
Time and Date - Hard disks - floppy 1.44 - etc....
Look to see if is properly listed...Then save all changes and exit...
Another thing.. if your floppy disks are not DOS compatible 1.44mb,
standard format..that could be the reason..the OS does not recognize it..
Unless your system or Install is corrupted..
We have Old systems at work that still require the Very Old floppy disks with the 540k or 720 etc type format.. But.. Those are Very rare with todays technology..
Good Luck
