This may help others:
There wasn't much for my MicroStar 6178 mainboard to get the onboard video functioning beyond basic VGA.
Since the company's manuals (in 5 variations) established the chipset as Intel 810 with embedded graphics, I searched Intel's downloads.
First:
The infinst_enu.exe file, chipset software installation, provides PnP INF support.
Second:
The win9xe67.exe, Intel graphics driver, recognized the one unknown device and provides full video functionality. It's for the 810[e]/815[e[m]] chipsets and gives onscreen instructions in its wizard.
Both files are direct install, apparently not being compressed.
