You need to describe the motherboard and pc system brand and model this device came pre-installed in if you expect any help.

The MPU-401, where MPU stands for MIDI Processing Unit, is an important but now obsolescent standard for MIDI interfaces on the PC platform. It was designed by the Roland Corporation, which also co-authored the MIDI standard.

MPU401 is a standard developed by RolandED (http://www.rolanded.com/index.html)in the early 80's, and later adopted for Creative SoundBlaster cards, for midi (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) input (piano-like keyboards, etc.). MPU = MIDI Processing Unit. The DB15 Jack on the back of most soundcards is the MIDI port. Look for the driver on floppy or CD that came with the soundcard or motherboard. See http://www.midiweb.com/ and http://www.midiweb.com/hww/midi.htm#l2 for more info.
