HP does not post a SOUND driver for this model (typical non-support from HP) and a real good reason to buy Sony, Toshiba, Gateway or Dell (if you must own factory made machines). Driver support from these companies is much better than HP/Compaq.

The Pavilion 9870 uses a ASUS P4T (Alcatraz) (h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph06446&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&os=228&product=60567&lang=en) motherboard. As you can see (if you clicked the link), there is no information posted about what sound device was used in this motherboard/pc system.
