Recently bought the driver, but it doesn't read dvds. It reads cds fine, and I have yet to try burning cds or dvds. But at the moment the main problem is that it doesn't read the dvds. When My computer is opened and the drive is selected it is empty.

you must have dvd decoding software installed in order to play dvd movie disks. eg: WinDVD or PowerDVD or 2 more popular titles. Trial versions are avaialble online but they are restricted to playing time per title and total time before expiring. Cyberlink and Intervideo are the websites to visit.
