I am working on the same laptop for a customer. If you look on the following web site

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=3&TypeID=26&DetailID=777&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=57&LanID=9

you will see the exact same laptop without the Westinghouse brand on it. The laptop is actually made by Uniwill Computer Corp also known as ECS.

You can click on "Driver" in the "Download" section and get the drivers you need.

Westinghouse has driver links posted but the links are dead, eg: http://store.westinghousedigital.com/t-documentation.aspx#drivers_anchor

Products sold by the corporate retail giant (WallyWorld) are very difficult to find support for.

Any luck, has anyone called them to ask if they plan to fix the dead links? The drivers for this model are impossible to find any other way.

Any luck, as I'm having the same problem. If the dead link posted above actually worked, we would have it made.

Hello again Adpankow,

Downloaded the second RAR file today.....while unpacking WINRAR asks for X40Alx_v1[1].1.rar which is not part of the 2 rar files you posted...

Can you please upload the missing part? Or if anyone has been able to make this work, let me know if I'm doing something stupid.

Thanks

all you have to do is unrar the first rar file. The 2nd file will automatically be included in the unrar'ing process. You wind up with a 201075 kb ISO file when properly unrarred. This is an image of the original disk. Just use Nero or Daemon or Alcohol to burn the image file to a cd-r disk. Now when you insert the disk, it will autorun and give you a choice of all the drivers to install. Your making a simple task complicated.

Hello JerryK,

Thanks for the reply, Winrar will NOT let me unrar the first file only, at some point during the unpack process it asks for the second file.
My process is as follows: doubleclick on X40AIx_v1[1].0.rar which automatically opens my Winrar 3.51 at that point I select extract to and (tried both let it default or select my own folder) press OK. Any corrections or alternate way of doing this is apreciated, assuming the actual file is OK.

Adriano
P.S. When I try to unpack the second file X40AIx_v1.0.r00 it (Winrar) tells me to unpack the other first.

Thanks again.

all you have to do is unpack the first file using winrar. It will automatically handle the 2nd file during extraction. You don't have to do anything else. I have downloaded and extracted both files so I know it works. I am uploading it in a different format that will extract basically the same as this one does. I don't know why you are having a problem as it extracts both files in one step when you start the extraction of the 1st file. That why rar is used, it's easy.
There is no other method to extract the files.

Here's the other files that are in part1.rar and part2.rar format that you might try.

Since this file is over 100 mb, finding a host that will accept files over 100 mb is difficult to find.

http://rapidshare.com/files/47755689/X40AIx_v1.0_2kxp.part2.rar

rar pass: oddx

Make sure both files have the same name as they appear in the link names in my post, then right click the .rar file and choose extract.

Hello again JerryK,

Your rar files require an unpack password. What did you use?

Thanks

try using: oddx (post modified to show pw)

You might also try the usual password for files hosted by Rapidshare:

Password: www.devilived.com
The password is the above URL - type it in exactly. "www.devilived.com". (without quotes)
At this point I don't know what password is used, for I haven't been able to download the files yet.

I am currently waiting to download these files.
It states that there are too many users at this point, and I am now considering a short-term Premium account for just a few Euros.

Let us know which password works!
Thanks,
Greg

These are the correct Drivers for the Westinghouse NB-14w2 Notebook.

I downloaded part 1 and was able to extract enough drivers to install the ATI Video Chipset, Realtek Audio and Modem. (btw- the ATI Video drivers are found inside the CHIPSET folder)

You must go into the drivers folders and run the SETUP.EXE files in each category.

If you don't download part 2, the RAR unarchiver will ask for Part 2, which at that point you may cancel the unarchiving process and go to the folder that was created when un-RARing Part 1 and run the setup.exe files individually.

I also suggest that if you do not have a premium account and use the free download, that you should download PART 2 first. This way, you won't have to wait as long to download PART 1. I must now wait 199 minutes before I am able to download part 2. The wait time is based upon the amount of data (mb's) that were previoussly downloaded. So if you download a smaller file first, your wait will be less.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR PLACING THIS RESOURCE DRIVERS DISC ONLINE! IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO MAKE UP FOR ALL THE STUPID INADEQUACIES FROM IDIOT COMPANIES LIKE WESTINGHOUSE AND WALMART.
I WILL VOW NEVER TO BUY A WESTINGHOUSE PRODUCT UNTIL I GET A FEASIBLE ANSWER FROM WESTINGHOUSE EXPLAINING WHY THEY FAIL TO SUPPORT OR EVEN LIST THIS PRODUCT ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE.

IF THERE IS A GOD, HE IS SMILING AT YOU...RIGHT NOW!

Sincerely,
Greg Lawrence

WESTINGHOUSE NOTEBOOK NB-14w2

I am uploading the individual drivers to DriverGuide.com right now.

I must state that since I did not create a complete resource disc, rather just extracted the drivers needed, I did encounter an error upon bootup.

The error states that a DLL was placed into memory because WINXP PRO would not allow it to be overwritten, and requests that the manufacturer be contacted for an updated driver.

This possibly may be due to the way I installed the drivers without using the install routine on the resource disc. This could also be due to some misconfiguration on the machine itself. I wanted to make this known. The laptop I was working on ran out of battery power with a broken power cable, so I was unable to determine the cause of this error, but I was able to install the video, audio and modem drivers.

The Drivers Folders included in Part 1 of the downloaded RAR file contains:
AUDIO
CARD READER
CHIPSET
ICP
LAN
MODEM
TOUCHPAD

Once again, Shame on Westinghouse. I will be sure to voice my opinion to any potential Westinghouse Customers to be aware that products made or sold by Westinghouse may not be supported in the near future. I had a problem from Panasonic one time, after spending $500 on a new SCSI CD Burner in 1997 (a whopping 2X speed! - lol!) ...after just one year they no longer supported the device. I have never since purchased any products from Panasonic, no matter how attractive their features seemed to be...nothing is more unattractive than the abandonement of your past, present and future customers.

Greg

I have no idea how long it takes before the drivers will be found using the search function, but I have requested that the manufacturer "Westinghouse" be added to the Manufacturers List

After uploading a file, you are presented with a screen thanking you along with a LINK to your driver file. Please copy that link and paste it into this thread so folks won't have to wonder where they are at.

and btw, please loose the caps lock key when posting. It's difficult to read and considered SHOUTING.

Why you folks cannot post links to your files after uploading drivers is beyond me. There is a word HERE at the finish of any upload that gives you the link on driverguide.com where this driver can be found.

This driver has been posted on driverguide.com by member Gustavo Amaya since Feb 2008:

http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1163853

bdmorriz, you've be warned twice about email addys. Don't post it again or you will be banned permanently.

I downloaded the rar files but they are empty, the chipset file had nothing in it besides other empty folders. the download from driver guide doesn't seem to have it either. all i need is the ATI driver for my graphics. this is a link to Westinghouse that has all the drivers except the graphics.

http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=66#VALUE
if it doesn't load copy/paste into location bar, click on accessories.

can someone point me in the right direction?

Folks, the ATI video drivers are included with the driver files (links listed in Post #13) and reside in the following folder:

\driver\chipset\driver\XP_INF\B_32166

Look there and you will find those ATI video drivers.
