Optical drives do not require any external driver when used in any of Microsofts os's since Windows 95. The os provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. Please state what the problem is and include some details from Device Manager.

Hi,

If you are having trouble with reading the written CDs on this drive, then actually you do not need a firmware upgrade as many would suggest.
In my opinion, this problem may be related to the OS rather than the firmware of the drive itself.

Checkout Microsoft's article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933486/en-us

Though they have not yet provided a solution to this problem but keep checking the article for updates.

Best regards,
Sudeep.
