I've just upgraded my brother's computer to Windows 2000 pro and it's constantly trying to get me to install drivers for a piece of hardware it's calling a Simple PCI controller. What exactly is this device and where do I get drivers for it. I already have the modem configured, so I'm trying to figure out exactly what this is for. It's the only piece of hardware I have to finish with left so any advice would be great.

no, you do not have the modem configured.
while you may have "A" modem configured in your system, windows detects and is asking for the windows (win Modem) that is installed by requesting "Simple PCI controller" drivers.
in other words, if you have installed a new modem, it usually helps to remove the existing one. most users only have need for one!!
please read our MODEM FAQ. taking the time to read this, ( !!prevents questions like yours!!) we spent time to write and post this in the hope that people would READ IT BEFORE ASKING/POSTING!
