I got a Sony Vaio and the Dvd/cd-rom is missing or corrupted and the Dvd/Cd-rom icon is missing as well. when i first got it, it work well but i don't know what happened, so please, if any body know how to fix this problem please help me.

A likely cause (and one easy to fix) would be an ASPI problem. Go to the Adaptec site and install the correct version for your OS. It's quick, easy, and can't hurt.
