the label on the laptop says its a presario v3000.i went to the compaq site and downloaded an audio driver for it, but it would work.i had their site detect my laptop, they say the detected a Presario V3235TU laptop.so i downloaded audio driver for it in the site. still, it wouldnt work.does anyone have a driver for this sound card 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio?

Compaq (now owned by HP) does not post non-working drivers. No reason to. They have everything to lose and nothing to gain by doing so.

So your task now is to make the driver work. Delete or uninstall everything related to sound, then perform a fresh install.

Note: Laptops cannot use generic drivers. You must use the driver from HP.
