You need to describe the brand and model of pc this device came installed in. Intel never made pci/isa sound cards...they make chipsets and motherboards. And simply because the mb contains and Intel chipset doesn't make it Intel. Lots of MB manufacturers used Intel chipsets.

If you are unable to accurately describe your hardware, then I suggest you use the following software:

Panasonic does not allow driver access unless you register. Go here: http://tcc.toughbook.com/

Then register, once registered click on Support ---> Drivers ---> Sound Driver ---> CF-51 ---> Windows ---> Vista

I've already tried that driver and it didn't work. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that this is CF-51E and that driver is for P,Q,R,S models.

Any other ideas?

It has to do with the fact that it's a laptop. Laptops are unable to use generic drivers. That's the way all laptops are built. You must use a driver from the laptop maker.
