I changed the settings while playing Quake 3 and now my computer is really messed up. I've gone into the Direct X and overrode the frequence, changed the resolution settings, etc. It started with a blue box saying Frequency Over Range. I'm only able to use the computer if the setting is on VGA 640x480x16. Color is horrible. This is a Pentium III.

Any advice?

make sure you have the driver installed

Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows ME users

1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel, double click the display icon.
2. In display click the settings tab.
3. In settings click the adapter tab.
4. Within this window you will be able to increase and decrease the computer monitors refresh rate.
