firmware driver??? No such thing. A driver is very different from firmware. It is suggested you contact the laptop manufacturer/vendor to see if firmware updates are available. Your reason for wanting an update is unclear. Perhaps you can explain?

You might also want to look at this page: http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba/index.php?path=Utilities/

Warning: be very carefull when updating firmware. Using the wrong fw can render a drive useless.

Thanks Jerry K. for the correction on driver vs. firmware. The ts-l632a ejects the media while trying to burn dvds i have tried -/+ r/rw media but the burn process is aborted and the media ejected. It worked fine when purchased then it refused all -r media and would only burn +r/rw now it refusing to burn both, it plays dvds and burns cds. Thanks for the response.

That sounds more like some defect has happened to the drive. I really doubt that updated firmware would correct the problem since the drive originally worked ok. Is the drive still under warranty? If so, I'd suggest you return it for repair/exchange. If not under warranty, you'd be best to just replace it. However, if you're able to find updated firmware, go ahead and try it as you have nothing to loose.

I have a BenQ DW1650 that's suppose to burn any media but refuses to burn dvd-r disks. Even with an updated firmware it still refuses to burn dvd-r (even high quality Taiyo Yuden). So I'm in the same boat as you. Mine is not under warranty so my only choice is to replace it.
