and how to you figure the operating system is "not-applicable"? Also, optical drives do not have "other" interfaces. The correct selection for most is IDE, SCSI, or USB.

If you need a dos driver (which is the only driver you'll find) it can be found on any os boot disk. In Windows os's 95 and up, no driver is required. If your drive happens to be usb interfaced and your os Windows 98, then you will need a driver to enable the usb port which allows the os to see the drive.
