DVD drives do not require any driver. They are supported fully by the os (ie: XP provides native support that allows it to read a data or music disk) and by compatible dvd decoding software. If the install failed, I'd suggest doing it again. To my knowledge there are no alternate methods other than by following the recovery disk procedure recommend by the manufacturer. It did come with instructions?
