when i on my pc p3, screen shows "os not found on any devices. press anykey to try again". if u leave it long enough, it says "disk i/o error. replace the disk and press any key".

nothing happen when i press again.

also the cd rom was working bcos wasnt detected in the bios. so i change a new cd rom and now
on the boots sequence cd rom as -1st, 'A' as 2rd and HD "C" as 3rd. when i try to change the boot sequence, it just wud "NOT" change.
(it makes no difference to the sequence whether the jumper on the cd rom is set at master or cable select)

(before changing the cd rom, the seqence was 'A' - 1st and HD'C' - second and the cd rom jumper was set at cs)

what can i do to get my with the system? do u think my HD is gone?

many thanks for your advice.

The boot sequence is not changed by changing jumpers on your cd-rom or hard drive. That's accomplised by the settings in pc bios setup. If you want the cd-rom drive to boot the system first, then you gotta tell it to do that in the bios settings. However, in order to boot from a cd drive, your pc bios must have that support... older systems may not have this support.

Master/Slave/CS settings:

If your system came from the factory with driver jumper settings currently set to CS then you must set all drive jumpers likewise.

If any (existing) drives use Master/Slave jumper settings then each drive on primary and secondary must be set opposite each other... eg: only one drive can be set as master and one as slave on each ide channel.

Example of correct drive jumper settings: (in master/slave system)
1st. drive 0= hard drive, primary/master
2nd drive 1= hard drive, primary/slave
3rd. drive 2= cd-rw drive, secondary/master
4th. drive 3= cd-rom drive, secondary/slave

Example of correct drive jumper settings: (in CS system)
all drives must be jumpered as CS

Note: To use CS requires a special ide cable. Regular ide cables cannot be used for CS systems (without modification).
