ibk63 04-17-2007, 04:07 PM I have upgraded to Vista and cannot find updated drivers for this Scanner. Can anyone help please?
Fortunately, I have a dual system with XP and can still use the scanner by re-booting. However, up-dated drivers would help.

Jerry K 04-19-2007, 09:58 PM If HP doesn't have Vista drivers posted then I'd have reason to believe that none exist... yet.
jazz1 09-15-2007, 03:38 PM I can't make my scanner work after buying new computer with Windows XP. It was working fine with Windows 2000.
Looks like HP doesn't have updated driver for 3300c.
Windrider6 04-01-2008, 01:03 AM I too have a HP ScanJet 3300C, and just got a new computer with Vista.
A search for drivers on the HP site gives this:
"We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista support available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista."
I don't know who to swear at, Microsoft or HP.
I guess it's not HP's fault that Microsoft changed Windows so much that the drivers have to be rewritten for Vista. But then, HP never bothered to update the driver for this scanner for Windows XP either.

1) Unplug the HP ScanJet 3300C from your Vista computer.
2) Uninstall any drivers from Vista that you have tried to use with the HP ScanJet 3300C.
3) Reboot.
4) Plug the HP ScanJet 3300C into your Vista computer.
5) When the "Found Hardware" wizard starts, direct it to the folder in which the driver you downloaded is in.
6) In that folder is "hpscan.inf", which you should select and open.
7) The wizard then presents a list of compatible drivers from the inf file, which should be only one driver. Choose it.

I have the same problem. I have been able to install these drivers and the scanner is listed as HP3300c in the device manager.
Which program should I use to give the command to perform a scan? I tried some general twain programs that did say there was no driver for the hp3300c...
Please inform me on what you are using with this driver under Vista!

I'm able to do the scan with several programs. 1 @ 2 below come with Windows Vista. 3 & 4 are free programs available on the Internet.
1) Windows Photo Gallery - File:Import from Camera or Scanner.
2) Windows Paint - File:From Scanner or Camera.
3) OpenOffice.org Draw - Insert:Picture:Scan:Select Source, then Insert:Picture:Scan:Request.
4) Paint.NET - File:Aquire:From Scanner or Camera

Thank you very much! I had to reinstall the drivers twice, but with the hpscan.inf I succeeded in installing the 3100c properly. And eventually even a scan through photoshop is possible! Thanks again!
croekk 06-04-2008, 12:58 PM 1) Unplug the HP ScanJet 3300C from your Vista computer.

I've got the same scanner and the same problem and unfortunately your solution doesn't work for me. You said I should select the hpscan.inf file, but with the vista hardware wizard I can only select folders not certain files. And guess what? Windows can't find driver software in that folder, although hpscan.inf as well as all the other files from the .zip archive are in it. Any solutions?
Jerry K 06-04-2008, 03:51 PM WindRider6 step #6 instructions are not correct, ie:
6) In that folder is "hpscan.inf", which you should select and open.
You don't open an INF file manually... the system does that step automatically.
Windows then displays the contents of the INF file and can display 1 or more options to select manually depending on how it was written and how many options were written in.
croekk 06-04-2008, 06:10 PM Okay, but still Windows can't find anything in that very folder.
Something to do with SP1 maybe?
Jerry K 06-04-2008, 06:26 PM I doubt it's a SP1 problem. You might try downloading the INF file again. Make sure the downloaded file byte count matches the original.
croekk 06-05-2008, 08:36 PM I've tried it several times now. Both on my laptop (Vista x64 Enterprise SP1) and my older computer (Vista x64 Enterprise). Doesn't work. :(
I successfully loaded this driver for my HP ScanJet3300C on Vista Business. You can't pick the actual file "hpscan.inf", but I selected the folder and it found it automatically. Many thanks!
flibble 09-04-2008, 02:56 PM This is certainly worth more than the miniscule ammount of money charged.
I nearly chucked the scanner out, but managed to get it to work through Kubuntu. Now I can use my spare machine more usefully.
Whoever did this work/research or made the discovery deserves a medal!

I have Vista and still cannot get this to work! I have a 64 bit os.
How did you do this?
Thanks
Jerry K 12-30-2008, 06:54 AM Please read the info on this page: http://www.errornumbers.com/Hpscan.inf/

bobbyt33 01-08-2009, 06:03 AM I just did it and it all worked perfectly. The internet is a scary and awesome beast...
Char79 01-10-2009, 10:26 PM I can't get this to work either. All I get is "Windows could not find the software for your device". And I've tried the folders from both posted links(Evgeni0's and Jerry K's).
zapataf 01-19-2009, 05:02 AM 1) Unplug the HP ScanJet 3300C from your Vista computer.

ingram 01-23-2009, 05:54 PM I have the information, that there should be a difference in performing this driver update if you have vista 32 bit or 64 bit version.
Vista 64 should not perform due to this information.
So is there anybody who succeeded in this hp scanner-driver update on a vista 64 System?
Thanks for your reply:hail:
bizzybody 02-26-2009, 08:26 AM The only people I see on this forum saying this doesn't work have said they have SIXTY-FOUR BIT Vista.
Seems obvious to me this .inf will only make 32bit Vista accept these old HP scanners.
Zanac_ex 03-01-2009, 10:11 PM Well....
This driver can't work on Windows Seven X64 :( I think that this driver works fine in Seven x32.
To install this driver, I think that is installed in control panel (update driver option) on scanner properties.
I hope that you can install this.
Regards from Brazil !

The download link IS NOT down. I just checked it and I had no problems downloading this file.
DefyingGravity 07-07-2009, 12:28 AM I got an error message a few times tonight when I tried to download, but just kept trying and eventually got it. After much messing about and confusion with the extraction process (I have never got my head round that :hdspin:), and a couple of reboots, I finally got my 3300C working. Absolutely delighted and many thanks to all on here who have guided me through it with their helpful instructions. A big thanks to the guy/gal who uploaded the driver too. Happy Days! :hail:
ProZeidon 07-08-2009, 08:25 AM I just tryed to download it again - and it worked :)
Thank you :hail:
