apachesurfer 06-08-2007, 04:50 AM I have the exact same problem, I have contacted trendnet and after troubleshooting with three different techs, they say, "I dont know, everything is right the device should be working." If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.
Jerry K 06-08-2007, 05:19 AM Is the driver "MRVW13B.sys" a Microsoft driver or a TREND.net driver? There seems to be a conflict on which one to use, ie: Microsoft native drivers or the TRENDnet drivers? The only notable quote I found on TRENDNet's website that might be the point everyone is missing... ie: the bold text below.
http://downloads.trendnet.com/TEW-421PC_b1_1R/Utility_Driver/Utility_Driver_TEW-421PC_423PI-WHQL.zip
Instructions:
(Please do not install the adapter until instructed to do so)
Download and unzip the driver file to your hard drive.
Double click on the unzipped autorun.exe and follow the Quick Installation
Guide’s procedures to install the Utility and Driver.
File Name: Utility_Driver_TEW-421PC_423PI-WHQL.zip
User manuals, etc. on this page: http://www.trendnet.com/asp/download_manager/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=995&SUBMIT=Go#
---------------------------------
Some users are saying it works just fine the first time using Microsoft's native driver, but from that point on, it doesn't seem to like the MRVW13B.sys file.
Has anyone tried removing the card, then clean the system completely of TRENDnet drivers, then resuming from that point and wait to install card as advised, ie: "Please do not install the adapter until instructed to do" which in my mind is a pretty lame set of instructions. Has anyone seen any notification of installing the adapter when instructed? We may need several reports from users before arriving at a solution.
apachesurfer 06-08-2007, 05:45 PM i have to admit, i did have the hardware (pci card) in while i was installing vista, in hopes it would install drivers itself, since that is what it says to do on trendnet's site the driver lest above is the xp driver, trendnet states on the vista compatibility that vista will have the driver already and install it automatically.
however after having tried about eight different versions of the driver, i havent been able to get any that dont say, "cannot start device code 10". i have tried removing it, reinstalling it, even using a different pci slot, even though it works without a problem with all the drivers i have used and both pci slots in windows xp.
i hadnt tried deleting all the drivers having to do with the card in vista, then retrying, it did result in a smoother install, where i was able to use the driver that came with it on the cd. previously when i had tried to install the driver off the cd, it would lock up half of the time. so after removing all the drivers from the computer, cutting system off, removing card, rebooting, cut off computer, installed card, booted, installed driver, i still get the "cannot start device code 10"
the thing that bothers me the most, is that i have found on the internet where people are having this same problem and every now and then, someone will say something about using a driver from another manufacturer and it working, however whenever they reboot it stops working, i would atleast like to get a hold of this, as maybe i could troubleshoot the driver.
apachesurfer 07-13-2007, 04:57 AM has anyone figured anything out about this, i have still been trying all types of things to no avail, thanks in advance.
TheDoctorSpeaks 11-03-2007, 12:58 AM This is why there is a problem and sadly, Trendnet isn't fixing it for you for now. The reason this doesn't work in Vista for one is because Vista installs its drivers over the Trendnet ones and sets them as the default ones, two, this whole wireless card is completely dependant in the Wireless Configuration Utility. So, with your installation disce it will install it all and work fine on XP and with Vista it will install the Drivers no problem, maybe even the correct drivers for the chipset but, the way the hardware is designed is to make it also dependant on that configuration utility, which, at this point is completely incompatible and won't even run in Vista at all...
So, my personal recommendation would be to just get a new wireless card, they're only like 60 bucks. I know it sucks but, you only have 3 options, roll back to XP until they do make some vista software that works, sit around w/o a compatible wireless card for who knows how long til they have that software, or just drop some cash on a new card...
I know, it sucks
shteigun 11-27-2007, 06:12 AM I just bought this card and installed it in vista without a hitch! no extra drivers or anything! that is - untill i started using it...
it works, but only for about 10 minutes worth of browsing at a time. Then it loses the connection, and i have to disable/enable it to get another 10 minutes out of it!
G.Singer 04-01-2008, 08:47 AM I have found the Problem. Its another device installed. A wired pc Lan card on the Board. I have deactivate this device on the Bios.
My Wlan card has started sucessfully. And this Problem isn`t here.
