I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate, and ever since my TS-L532A CD/DVD +/- DL Burner doesn't work anymore. Sometimes it recognizes CD's or DVD's, but mostly it won't work. I can't find a proper driver to replace the old own with and I own an Asus A6Va.
Can anybody help me out?

No driver is required. All support for this drive is provided by the Vista os and by compatible recording and dvd decoding software. We don't know what your mean by "it don't work". If I told you that about my car, could you tell me what's wrong without a problem description or without checking the car?
I have a similar problem. I have the same dvd drive in my laptop. When I try to install vista it asks me for a cd with the driver on it to continue the setup. Does anyone have a driver?

Do you have SATA drives? If so ya gotta have the driver present on a floppy disk and press F6 when prompted during install.

Jerry K,
I hate to break it to you but Vista DOES NOT have built in support for this DVD-ROM. If it did we wouldn't be on this site asking for a driver.
Aside from this I would like to say that I too am having problems getting the TS-L532A to work on Vista Ultimate. The drive does not show up in my computer, but it is recognized on device manager as having a problem with the driver. Someone find this driver!!!

I have a news flash for you.... as soon as you locate this driver, I'd like to see it or a link to it. The only driver for optical drives in Vista os is the one Microsoft packaged with the os. There is no other driver. You need to get your facts straight before accusing someone you don't even know of being wrong. I've been in this business probably longer than you've been breathing air and I know what I'm talking about. You can remain ignorant or you can accept the fact then work on the problem.

Just how would Vista have the ability to reject this particular drive? Please explain that mr know it all. Vista supports ALL optical drives that are ATAPI compliant. For name calling you get banned until you provide a valid reason why you should be allow to post here again.
Your IGNORANCE is shining bright, unlike your brain!

i have tsst sh-s202n running quad core 9550/msi m/b running vista home premium x64. initially installed oem o/s and it worked fine but realized that product key was assoc w another comp. bought another oem vista premium x64 and installed all updates and now on device manager it reports code 39 (driver may be corrupt or missing) on device status line. no online solutions available and check for driver update indicated driver is up to date.

online solutions ARE available if you only READ a few posts in this forum. The answer can be found very easily within 5 minutes. You've been and read everywhere else... why not read where a real solution has already been posted? That's why we have a forum...... it's not just for posting, it's for reading too.

This could well be a misleading error message. During installation the DVD is often the first optional device tested when actually the message should say chip set drivers needed to use devices dependent on this "SATA/IDE/ATA/SCSI" drive controller device. ANd sometimes you find that built in drivers are "close enough" for some hard drives but fail when more unusual devices are present on the device channel. So update your chip set drivers first.
This could still be true later if no other drive was on that particular device chain until now (e.g. you used SATA drives and this DVD is first IDE device).
Or for driver corruption this could still be true if this DVD drive is the only device on that bus type.
Pardon the Moderator for calling you all liars on having an legitimate system message. We get grouchy and impatient in our old age. Signs are you failed to try a couple of quick tests that could verify if you really needed a DVD device driver...like try hooking up a major name brand drive or working Vista drive borrowed from someone else. If that drive also has a problem...well then it is not a DVD drive driver problem.
The truth is the moderators experience says that simple devices like DVD drivers are either brainless simple or a royal pain if they really fail to connect up with modern OSes (firmware can make them fail) automatically. Usually it is easier to swap them for another brand or model that works right off. He was saying have at if you bought a slightly off spec royal pain in the *** drive - good luck but do not expect help from tired old experts...it will be dumb luck from those who experiment forever.
His evasive answer about "read the forums" was probably a lot meaner than he really thought...because experts easily forget of course that a 5 minute search for someone like himself with hours every day in forum is a search around 10-50 times longer for the inexperienced. And I suspect he under estimated his own search time by a factor of 3-5 even knowing the right thread titles, all the best search words and categories and best search tools.
