Internal drives do not have PCI/ISA interfaces. They either have IDE or SCSI interface. And they never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. The XP os provides native support that allows the drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. What's the problem with a few details from Device Manager?

I'm sorry..It is IDE..My mistake..Selected the wrong option..
The device manager say that the driver for the drive is corrupted. And is now unable to read/write any disc.

That doesn't change the facts. Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. All support for this drive is provided natively by the OS (ie: read a data or music disk, burn a cd-r disk) and by compatible 3rd party recording and dvd decoding software. The "driver" you speak of as being corrupt does not come from outside sources... it come from your installation disk and it's not something that's manually installed. The Windows XP os detects/installs support quitely without your knowledge and without your intervention. But it may require intervention to fix it. Try deleting the flagged devices and reboot. That usually fixes most Windows problems.
