My graphics are built-in on my motherboard..The graphics go haywire and my pc freezes up when I go into Yahoo or MSN to play games..I have formatted my harddrive and reloaded XP and still have graphics problems..I downloaded the graphics driver from the motherboard manufacturer (I think)..I went to Windows Update and downloaded all the available downloads..I think my motherboard is VIA using Award International software..The driver is S3Graphics..The number is 8365-686B-6ADLND4BC-00..The VIA number is VT8365..My question is how do I turn off the graphics driver on the motherboard to install a graphics card..Thank you for your help and do love this site..Have used it for a couple years..Love the new site....Pat

Added note::I bought this system about 2 years ago and worked fine until I got a virus a month or so ago..This guy I bought this system from custom built it. He had a computer shop but, got ill and had to close his shop.. I believe he has moved and can't get ahold of him..I did not get any disks with this system..Know now that I should have..Also a site that shows the motherboard and lots and lots of info about a pc is Belarcadvisor.com..It is a free download..

those numbers, where exacty did you get them?
ViA chips have VT82CXXX format.
anyways, you have to identify the chipset and since it boots, the BIOS string should provide all info like chipset and OEM or vendor.
your obvious problem is not having the right drivers installed for all on board multimedia, kind of like same as "Chipset Drivers"
so if you have not already done so and have been using this machine happilly without telling us, is all that is required for successfull operation. (I mean id and install)

I just read the string, so, plug in your video and sound cards, go BIOS, go disable on board VGA, go disable on board SOUND, go reset configuration data, go exit saving changes.
Be sure to have correct drivers ready for your ad on's! Enjoy!

plug your graphics cars in to the desired port the switch on the machine it will/should automatically find the new hardware and try to locate software it will ask you to specify the location of the software if machine cannot find it instruct machine to search disk drive then go through installation procedure then once installed it should ask DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE GRAPHICS TO ..............click yes and it will automatically change restart the computer and the changes will be saved
