i just upgraded from a 256 mb flash drive to a 1 gig. this was after i had to reformat my computer because it crapped out on me. now, i cannot get half of my usb devices to work. neither the flash drive nor my ipod can connect. they always prompt me for drivers. problem is that the flash drive has no drivers for xp and i downloaded the ipod software and it still wont work. they both worked fine before i reformatted so it couldnt be a problem with the usb ports.

please im completely confused and totally di$$ed off.

When you calm down a bit, explain what this term means:

"how on earth do i not the drivers for this?"

Then for starters don't guess what your usb ports condition is in, look in Device Manager and confirm they are working. Next did you install Service Packs 1 or 2? You must to get USB 2.0 support.

First and foremost, before anything else is said, I came here because Diversguide is pretty much the universal go-to for drivers and the such. There is a certain level of professionalism associated with this site, and I would appreciate a little bit of it if that is not too much to ask for. I'm fairly confident that you could understand the heading. I was typing fast and I merely forgot a word. My mistake. Now please be not so petty as to use that to make yourself seem my absolute superior. In fact, I could point out one of yours.

While I did neglect to mention that I have SP1 and that my USB mouse and external HD are working, in my post I said that they prompt me for drivers, meaning that the ports are registering and the problem is in the software. Common sense.

Now that we have come to the conclusion that we are in fact both mortals that are capable of mistakes, let us cast hubris aside. I have seen from your other numerous posts that you are very knowledgable and helpful. I merely wanted some of that assistance, if possible.
