I just got this new headset from Argos. Took it home to try it out and discovered there is no accompanying installation software.

Windows installed drivers identifying it as C-Media Stereo USB headphones, and while both the headset and microphone appear to work, there is a constant low pitched humming noise (something similar to an electric guitar amp) coming through the headphones which varies with the volume.

While I'm not entirely convinced this is a driver issue, I thought I'd better try to find the right drivers before I take it back to the shop for a replacement.

thanks in advance

I just bought the headset myself today and have not experienced this problem. As for drivers I think there are no drivers in existence for them. They are literally just plug and play. As for the humming sound, I can only guess that its static the microphone is picking up from something or perhaps a problem with your sound card or even the USB slot the headset is plugged into?

Cordless phones and other wireless equipment in the vicinity of the headphones can also cause this type if problem/interferance. And high voltage overhead power lines can cause it as well.
