Hi. Ive got a little prob with WinXP.

I installed Windows XP Home edition on two computers approx a month ago; by now one of them ( the first one to have it installed ) doesnīt allow me to log in:

It suddenly showed me the login welcome screen with my icon, but, when clicking to it shows me a little dialog box with a yield icon, NO TEXT, and options: "yes" or "no".

By the first times, any option I choose would let me log in and use the computer just without any problems. Options just make no difference.

By the last days, the dialog text box changed the icon (now itīs a "deny" icon, red bubble with an X indide it ). And both yes or no options make windows log log out inmediately. The only difference is that "yes option" tries to load personal settings, and in a second just logs me out.

So it is unaccessible now. Any data on the HDD is Ok.

The other computer has recently started those problems, by now it shows me the yield dialog box... I donīt know how to regain control of my PCīs.

It only works "fine" if I start in safe mode with command prompt, I tried to run it with the less drivers and startup apps I could, but it makes no difference.

Is there anything you can say about my situation? do you know anything?

Thank you!

Tulainas

ps is there any way to attach you a file to show you how the dialog box looks like? how can I upload a file from my desktop?

yes, if you use this coding:

link to jpg or gif

Some 3rd party applications, such as PCAnywhere, replace the Windows XP logon routine with their own. This script is designed to correct this, and allow you to use the Windows XP Welcome Screen.

Usage: Download fix_xp_logon.vbs and save this file to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when finished. You may need to log off/back on or restart your computer for the change to take effect. This script can be viewed in Notepad or any text editor, as to the specific Registry key and value that are updated.
