and what is the "other" interface? How does it connect to the pc?

It's a satelitte modem and it is connected via the usb port to the computer.

USB only? No ethernet connector (which doesn't require a driver)?

Have you checked with the manufacturer? www.hughes.net

Have tried but no success.
