yes, eMachines support SUCKS!

http://www.e4me.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2885

Try either of these software hardware id programs and repost with results:\

To find make and model of pc hardware, EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information program that will id most hardware onboard a mb.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Everest-Home-Edition.shtml

Run the program and then:

Click on Computer
Click on Summary
Right hand window (hardware) if the text is blue this is a link to the web site for that particular hardware.

An alternative program is Belarc Advisor from www.belarc.com (a little more simple to use than Everest but not as good about identifying a place to find the driver).

and eMachines website only states: Sound: AC '97 Audio.

Sorry but that's inadequate info to find the correct driver. We need at least a chipset number and/or a bios id string.

I have a client with an Emachine T2885 and of course they do not have their software, or at least can't find at the moment. I have XP and their key so that was not the problem, it was drivers for it. If you have this same model then this link below should help you. If not, you will need to find your model number and contact the live support in order to get the link that you need.

I had to request live support in order to get this link. They don't have it readily available and that is why I would not recommend a company or product of this nature.

Hope this helps.

is not an official eMachines support site so don't expect anything other than what is offered.

This is the official eMachines website: www.e4me.com
